New York - Day 4

We headed back to NYC for our 4th day of vacation. We took the train from NJ again and rode the bus around the city again. This time we did the up-town route. The weather this day was fabulous, sunny and cool. No ponchos needed. Some of the sites we saw from the bus-top included Columbia University, Harlem, Riverside Park, Grant's tomb, Bill Clinton's office, all kinds of fancy-no-two-year-olds-allowed-museums, and lots of different types of architecture. Our big highlights of the day were Central Park and FAO Schwartz.

We toured the Central Park Zoo. It's a perfect zoo for a 2 year old, small and doesn't make you feel like you need to race around and see ten thousand different animals. Brynna's favorite part of the zoo was the sea lions. They were in a big pool right in the middle of the park. All of the other exhibits made a big circle around their pool.

After the zoo, we walked (Well I waddled; two days in NYC could make any pregnant lady waddle.) around Central Park a little bit. Honestly Brynna was just as excited by the dog walkers in the park as she was by any of the animals in the zoo. We had a nice time enjoying the weather and relaxing together in the park.

We picked up ice-cream treats for all of us from a Central Park cart vendor.

After Central Park we hopped on a bus and rode over to FAO Schwartz, by far Brynna's favorite stop of the day. She was in total heaven, running from shelf to shelf, trying to hug every stuffed animal in the place. We implemented a one toy at a time rule, and she was SSSOOOO good about putting things away as she went. She could have spent all day rocking the baby dolls and watching the toy trains. A favorite for the whole family was of course the giant piano.

I think I look like a seriously big-fat-pregnant-lady in this video. Daryl says I look like a good mommy. Husbands don't come any better than that, do they?

We ended the day with dinner at the Olive Garden, more familiar food, and a train ride back to NJ. We had a great time in the city, but two days of constant site and sound over stimulation was enough. We saw enough, did enough, and left convinced we have the best two-year-old on the planet. She just trekked along with us the whole time, no naps and totally off her schedule. She got whinny a hand full of times, but so did I. She never had a melt-down, and all through the city she would look at everyone around her and say, "Hi! What's your name?"
