New Jersey Family - Day 7

Day 7 of our vacation we spent with Grandmother Ruth and the rest of the NJ family. We'd spent the night before at Gr. Ruth's.

After breakfast we headed over to Lindsey and Sarah's middle school for an awards ceremony at which Lindsey was honored. She was one of three chosen to read an essay for the event and was named salutatorian of her eighth grade class. Brynna got caught up in watching for cousin Lindsey in the auditorium, so afterward she wanted Lindsey to hold her, and no else would do. Lindsey even took her to her locker to pick up some homework. Brynna didn't notice that Daryl and I didn't follow. After we left the school we all headed to a very nice restaurant to celebrate Lindsey's success. Brynna was very well behaved, especially for a fancy restaurant that didn't so much as have child's booster seat.

After lunch Daryl, Brynna, Gr. Ruth, and I headed back to Gr. Ruth's place. Brynna took a nap, and Gr. Ruth gave me the grand tour of her retirement community. It is a very nice place with almost a college dorm/community feel to it... Well except for all the old people. :) Daryl was happy to just sit and relax in Gr. Ruth's apartment while Brynna slept. After the tour, Uncle Donald brought cousin Matthew by for a swim. Daryl and Brynna went with them, and I was happy to sit and relax myself for a while.

That evening we had dinner at Uncle Donald and Aunt Desiree's. Aunt Nadine, Uncle Dean, Katie, and Kristin all joined us as well. We celebrated Lindsey some more as well as Katie's recent graduation. Brynna had a great time entertaining and being entertained by her first-cousins-once-removed.

Here are a few family pics. Check out the rest in our picture gallery, linked at right.
